The CenCal Cosmos hosted a free clinic on Saturday for local children aged 5-10, at Buchanan High School. More than 75 young players showed up to learn skills from the Cosmos staff in a number of fun and exciting drills. “We are really excited that so many children were able to attend,” Cosmos Director of Coaching, Kevin Botterill, commented, “This was a great opportunity for the kids to meet some of our staff and get a taste for soccer, and specifically the Cosmos.”
A big part of the Cosmos’ mission is to increase participation amongst young children, and initiatives like this clinic and the Apprentice Program are beginning to make a real difference. “For soccer to grow we need to continue to increase the number of children playing soccer on the competitive level at the youngest ages,” added Botterill, “We are committed to this, and are confident that our curriculum and staff, will ensure that any child joining our programs will grow to love the game, and develop towards their potential as a person and player.”
